THE SPRINGHOUSE
When you come out of the basement, the building facing you is the springhouse. It contained three rooms plus the well. The upper room was the pantry, and the lower room beside it was the smokehouse. You can still see the firewall in it as well as the original pantry shelves. Directly below the pantry and entered into from the side is the springhouse itself, with its trough holding the clear spring water. Foods that needed to be kept cold were set down into the cold water.
